"Remembering that you’re going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.” Steve Jobs
After many years spent trying to make two separate visions work at Folk Digital, the agency’s co-founder, Jo Cruickshanks, decided it was time to divide the team. Her new boutique agency, Bare Collective, opens its doors on 5th September.
Jo has wanted to create an agency with a difference for over a decade, because her experience with agencies was always so frustrating. With Folk, she made some headway, but felt restricted by the more traditional way of thinking and wanted to work with a more agile, lean, creative approach. Enter Bare Collective: a new breed of agency with a unique way of working. Bare’s work is based on radical collaboration, with no client-agency barriers, and absolutely no ‘us and them’ dynamic.
Bare’s team of eight, all ex-Folkers, feel the same. For the past five years, many of them have worked together on brands like Pernod Ricard, Kelly Hoppen, Pretty Green, Turnbull & Asser, and Hermès - and each one is determined to do things differently.
‘We’re an honest bunch, held together by a shared passion for telling simple stories and doing work that matters and challenges the status quo,’ says Jo.
‘Bare Collective is a group of people who really believe in transparency and working creatively together until we’re proud. We’re following our hearts, and we hope that others who feel the same will follow us in being bare with what we do.’
Bare Collective is open for storytelling, strategy and Shopify commerce projects from early September. You can see what they’re up to in the meantime on twitter @barecollectiveco.
